The Image of the Struggling Woman in Yamina Mechakra's La grotte éclatée

Abstract

In this article, we have examined the representation of the mujahid woman, as we have noticed her misrepresentation in male writings, where she is depicted as man’s shadow while man is represented as a leader and a hero. The following question has been asked : How did the female writers portray the Mujahid woman? In her work La grotte éclatée, Yamina Mechakra tells th story of a nurse who joined the ranks of the mujahideen to participate in the struggle for independence , and it became clear to us that her image changed through the storyline, at the beginning of the novel, she is fragile and feminine but her need for freedom and her love for her country changed her greatly as she endured atrocities of this war and lost her son and her arm.
