Abstract
The book "The Moment of the Birth of Pragmatics" by researcher Masoud Sahraoui is considered one of the most significant scientific achievements in the field of pragmatic linguistics that has been recently published. It offers a distinctive qualitative addition to the theory of speech acts. The researcher has made an effort to present the concepts, propositions, and ideas of the theory in a clear and accessible language, aiming to bring these modern concepts closer to researchers. This research aims to introduce the concepts and propositions of the theory of speech acts, its historical emergence, and the intellectual background in which it developed within contemporary Western thought. It also addresses the actual birth of the theory through the work of philosopher J.L. Austin, as well as the most important revisions and modifications made by John Searle to the theory, as presented by the researcher in his book, which is considered one of the key texts that contributed to the understanding of the theory of speech acts. The study seeks to explore the linguistic thought of researcher Masoud Sahraoui, who has combined Arab heritage with contemporary Western linguistics.
