Abstract
The topic of self and identity constitutes rich material for the contemporary novel, and this is what we have clearly seen in modern novels, especially those related to the Palestinian crisis. This has significantly contributed to directing the pens of novelists from all over the Arab world to convey the suffering of the Palestinian people, who have strived to prove their identity amidst the repeated conflicts and crises that have torn their entity and unity, and controlled their geographical area. This has made the question of identity emerge as a central issue that has profoundly affected literary work, especially the Palestinian one. We find them presenting, through their pens, the journey of searching for identity and fragmentation. Therefore, in this paper, we will try to explore the identity fragmentation and conflict found in the novel "A Mask the Color of the Sky" by the Palestinian prisoner Bassem al-Khandaqji. Thus, came the title as follows: "Fragmentation of the Self and the Search for Identity in the Novel 'A Mask the Color of the Sky.
